The ListServe

Is it possible in any way to view the list serve archives?

I would bet most of the questions asked in the forum have been answered or discussed already, too bad that information is unavailable to those of us who were not present at the time. It is troubling to see how many help and information requests seem to go unanswered. Even if they were answered on the list serve or in a PM that does not help the masses and, anyone looking in the forum will think that this is business as usual here and not even bother.
As an opposite example, I have three LinearX programs and have yet to come upon one question or problem that I did not find the answer in the literature or on the forum.

So how can we access all that information?

  All the best,
                  Barry.

Forum: TEF 20+ 25

Rub-Buzz Testing

I am new to the system, and generally frustrated with the documentation. I have emailed goldline support. I heard back on one question, but not on the other... It has been over a month.

I need to setup a production test of raw speaker drivers. I can to frequency response, and harmonic distortion. I need to do rub-buzz testing as well. Can some one give me an idea of how to do a pass/fail rub-buzz test? I have done some FFT measurements with 125Hz Excitation and can see the rub or buzz, but haven't figured how to do a pass/fail.

TEF25
V6.8.5.22 Jun 25 2007
PEQ 6.6.3
Ptest 6.6.3
SLX 6.8.0.16

Is there a book or white papers that would go into more details on this?

Thanks,
Brian

Forum: General Audio Measurements

I did some first measurmnats in pretty big sports hall where the Community loudspeakers R series are installed, in one cluster on middle of hall. I tried to measure a phase diffrents between the speakers in overlapping area. And I got very strange results, I did measurements like is written in manual, I know how the TDS method works and how to set it (delay etc). In enclosure I attached the files from measurmants, as You will see the phase graph looks strange, the phase degrees looks strange . Where I did the mistakes and how it supposed to be set?

Marcin Zimny

acoustic, sound system designer.

sory for my Eanglish..

Forum: TEF 20+ 25

Subwoofer Parametric EQ

Does anyone have any recommendations on EQs? I've been trying to find the Goldline Programmable EQ on their website but have had no luck. Certainly looking for a simple mutiband parametric EQ for subs that I could use reliably to augment systems with limited abilities such as those with A/V Receivers.

Important features would of course be narrow bandwidths and multiple filter between 0Hz and 100Hz. Constantly variable with stacking ability would be great too. Any suggestions of tried and true gear and or methods would be great.

Thanks all
Forum: General Audio Measurements

MLS or TDS, that is the question...

Hi everyone,

I do acoustical measurements in halls and rooms; studios, control rooms, home theaters...

What would be the best software for me; MLS or TDS?

What about the following I read on Gold-Line's web site:

Combined with your personal computer and the appropriate software, you can transform the TEF into a TDS analyzer, noise analyzer, real time analyzer, and now, a maximum-length sequence analyzer. So, you no longer have to choose between TDS and MLS, as long as you choose TEF.

Sales and support are not able to answer my question...

Thanks,

Mike

Forum: TEF 20+ 25

RT60 measurents... made easy?

Hi there,

We are planning to go with a newer version of TEF and MLS software.  With this system and this soft (or an other) is it possible to;

to get RT60 measurements automatically, like in a table or in a format that can be imported in a spreadsheet. By automatically, I mean, without having to examine all the filtered ETC plots looking at the slopes to determine the RT60.

to perform an averaging of several measurements made at different spots in a room?

Forum: TEF 20+ 25

OUCH! Man are these things loud. While non-disclosures limit what I can say, a Hyperspike is really loud and can project sound really far. For a look a what a TEF user is doing out at the ragged edge of electro-acoustical theory take a look at http://www.wattre.com/

Greg Miller
TEF Division
(203) 938 2588

Forum: General Audio Measurements
